Arada has awarded a Dh2.18 billion contract to United Engineering Construction Company (UNEC) to build Madar Mall, the central retail and entertainment hub of the Aljada megaproject in Sharjah. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the 1.1 million square-foot mall will feature over 400 shops, 80 dining outlets, an 11-screen cinema, an ice rink, a gym, fountains, and a rooftop restaurant in an observation tower. Construction commences immediately, with completion expected by December 2028.
Madar Mall will anchor the final phase of Aljada’s Madar family entertainment district, which spans 3.9 million square feet. The design, inspired by a water droplet's impact, incorporates elliptical buildings and landscaped areas. UNEC, established in 1976, has a strong track record in large-scale projects across the GCC.
Arada's Group CEO, Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, views the project as transformative for Sharjah, emphasizing its role as a hub for culture, recreation, and social connection. The mall aims to attract 20 million visitors annually, complementing existing Aljada attractions like the skate park, food district, and adventure parks.
Aljada, already home to 20,000 residents, will eventually house over 25,000 homes alongside various facilities. Its strategic location, with easy access to major roads and the upcoming Etihad Rail station, positions Aljada as a rapidly growing mixed-use community.
