The Sharjah Executive Council, led by the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, has approved a new initiative to address unregistered lease contracts. This decision focuses on leases signed before the implementation of Law No. (5) of 2024, which regulates property leasing within the emirate. The aim is to simplify compliance and offer support to tenants.
Tenants who register their previously unregistered contracts will benefit from significant fee reductions. Specifically, they will receive a 50% exemption on overdue registration fees for leases that were both signed and expired before September 19, 2024. Additionally, tenants will be fully exempt from any administrative fines associated with the non-registration of their leases.
These exemptions are scheduled to be in effect from November 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025. This applies to all types of leases, including residential, commercial, industrial, and investment properties. This comprehensive approach reflects Sharjah's commitment to creating a supportive environment for tenants and encouraging adherence to the new property leasing regulations.
